Walsh IBS provided UPS and a main LV panel upgrade to accommodate load shedding and further back up redundancy at The Bailey, Skipton Building Society’s principal office.
We also installed new power distribution to main Server room.
Extreme care had to be taken and all actions considered. As the site hosted the control for the business’s full national ATM coverage, any outage had extreme financial implications. Therefore, works had to be pre-planned and phased to minimise impact to business operations.
Specific windows of time were allocated that had zero flexibility for downtime and changeover of services. All works were prepped and ready ahead of time with full detailed programmes in place for the duration of the shutdown. Contingency and back out processes were in place for any disaster recovery. These included additional stand by UPS, pre-installed power distribution boards supplied from alternate sources along with temporary generator cover. Integration and co-ordination with site service teams was critical in all steps of the project in closing down systems.
With works carried out in and around live services, detailed risk and method statements were produced with a permit to work system in place on a room-by-room basis.
